Restoring site heritage
Key heritage buildings within the conservation area along City Road will be retained and restored.
The Moorfields Eye Hospital building, and Kemp House will be retained and refurbished internally with new uses, including community uses. The King George V Extension building will be restored for new residential amenity use, with the existing façade restored, preserving the historic frontage.
Retaining these buildings has been a key principle of the masterplan from the outset. Together, they preserve the site’s historic frontage to City Road and its distinctive character, while allowing the buildings to be adapted for new uses.
